I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

What The....?

So where did this site come from? And more importantly, why is it here in the first place?

It all started as a crazy idea to get some exposure and experience for some of my classmates and I. After bouncing it off a few people and checking our sanity at the door, we started Graf-IX. (To find out more about the others, look at the main site) The purpose is sort of a fusion of portfollio and a test bed for web design concepts. I wanted a way to show off some of my work, and at the same time experiment with different web design ideas without breaking an 'important' site in the progress. I strive to use only valid XHTML and CSS in building the site you're looking at now. The logic being that the aforementioned 'important' sites need to be as correct as possible regardless of what browser or platform the site visitor is using. But of course valid code is usually associated with boring - so I'm doing my own little play to see what the limits are and how I can incorporate those into my other work. Sort of my own little CSS Zen Garden I suppose. Of course I'm not terribly strict on the CSS side, I've already used a couple of Mozilla only extensions, but I don't use anything that will cause the site to 'break' on other browsers. Just all those enlightened Firefox users out there get a few extras visually.

So why is it here? I suppose I sort of answered that above, but not really. I'm sure the real reason has something to do with cheese and 27 dancing monkeys.

Some Technical Stuffs

Just some bits and pieces that those of you foolish enough to care about this type of stuff, like me, might like to know.

Built using valid XHTML as well as valid CSS where possible. I have sacrificed some CSS validation for appearance reasons in places where it wouldn't cause the site to break. In other words, I didn't worry about CSS validation where it improved the looks of the site without hurting it in browsers other than Firefox.

Site runs on a Linux server powered by Apache, scripting in PHP.
